The Hackney-born singer's Collide was first played on BBC Radio 1 on 15 July and made available on YouTube shortly afterwards. According to Pournouri, he did not consent to Lewis adopting the track because he was already committed to releasing Fade Into Darkness.

However, Collide ended up being heard by executives at Cowell's Syco label and the song was chosen for Leona Lewis to release as the lead single on her forthcoming album.īergling's manager, Arash Pournouri, claims he was contacted by a music executive who said the track had been pitched as a potential single for Lewis. It was planned to release Fade Into Darkness in October, with a heavy marketing push in the hope the song would be a hit. In a statement released on Tuesday, Syco said: "It is announced today that Leona Lewis and Avicii will work together on the forthcoming single of Collide. Details of the agreement were not disclosed but the single will be released as planned on 4 September. Syco is understood to have reached an 11th-hour agreement with Avicii's record label, Ministry of Sound, on Monday – hours before the case was due to be heard at the high court in London. The up-and-coming dance producer, Avicii, last week attempted to block the release of Lewis's single claiming that the instrumental was a direct copy of his own song, Fade Into Darkness. Leona Lewis and her record label – Simon Cowell's Syco – have agreed to work with a 22-year-old Swedish DJ after settling a legal dispute over The X Factor winner's forthcoming single, Collide.
